Surface coating

Surface coating is a coating used to improve the final coating and printing adhesion of thin film substrates.

There are various chemical types of surface coatings, including resin based, solvent based, water-based, or UV curing. Acetone or ethyl acetate solutions can be used to check for the presence of coatings on the material surface, and rotogravure or lexicographer printing methods can be used for processing.

Corona treatment

Corona treatment is the process of passing materials between two electrodes to increase surface tension.

Corona treatment utilizes high-frequency and high-voltage power to generate corona discharge in the gap between the discharge knife holder and the blade, forming a low-temperature plasma zone for surface modification of plastic film. This method can convert plastic film from non-polar to polar, improving surface tension and adhesion. The price of corona treatment equipment is relatively low and suitable for continuous production, but the discharge uniformity is poor and it is easy to break through the film, resulting in limited treatment effect.

Actual application and effect

In practical applications, corona treatment is widely used due to its simplicity and good treatment effect. Most BOPP film manufacturers use corona treatment. The strength of corona treatment can be determined by testing the surface tension of the film, and the commonly used testing method is the coating method。
