It is well-known that self-adhesive labels have an adhesive property, making them prone to forming bubbles during the application process. This can directly affect the adhesion and appearance of the labels. Here are two common issues with label application and their solutions:
Issue 1: Transparent Film Self-Adhesive Labels on Transparent Bottles
Causes of Bubbles:
1. Uneven Bottle Surface: Small dents or an uneven surface on the bottle, or the softness of the label not matching the bottle, can cause bubbles.
2. Labeling Machine and Bottle Design Mismatch: The method of labeling not matching the design of the bottle can trap air, causing bubbles.
3. Static Electricity: For thin film self-adhesive labels, static electricity can also cause bubbling. Static can arise from dry climates, especially in northern China during winter, and from friction between the labels or between the labels and parts of the labeling machine.
Solutions for Static Electricity:
1. Control Temperature and Humidity: Maintain an optimal temperature of 20-22°C and relative humidity of 50%. Copper wire can be used for discharge.
2. Use a Special Labeling Machine: Employ a specialized labeling machine for transparent labels that uses a rubber scraper.
3. Material Matching: Use materials that match the bottle’s material for printing labels.
4. Check Bottle Surface: Ensure the bottle surface is even before labeling. If necessary, smooth the mold used for bottle production.
Issue 2: Paper Labels on Oil Cans
Causes of Bubbles:
1. Environmental Differences: Significant differences in storage environment, temperature, and humidity can cause the label to absorb moisture quickly, leading to bubbles.
2. Uneven or Dirty Surfaces: An uneven or dirty surface on the object can cause bubbles and poor adhesion.
Solutions:
1. Condition Labels: Place the labels in the labeling environment for a period to balance humidity.
2. Clean and Dry Surface: Ensure the labeling surface is clean and dry. Press the label firmly to ensure it sticks properly.
