Adhesive labels, also known as self-adhesive stickers, are made from materials like paper, film, or other specialty materials, with adhesive on the back and a silicon-coated release paper as the backing. These labels are commonly used in daily life, but sometimes the edges start to peel or even detach entirely.
The main reasons for this issue include:
1. Weak Adhesive:
• The adhesive used may not be strong enough to hold the label securely over time. It’s essential to choose an adhesive material suitable for the application and environmental conditions.
2. Insufficient Pressure from the Labeling Machine:
• If the pressure applied by the labeling machine’s roller is inadequate, the label might not adhere properly. Ensuring proper adhesive material and machine settings can mitigate this problem.

3. Inappropriate Label Face Material:
• The material of the label face must be chosen based on the surface it will be applied to. Considerations include whether the surface is flat or curved, the object’s diameter, and the rigidity or flexibility of the material. For example, soft materials like PE, PVC, and non-stretched PP are suitable for flexible surfaces, while rigid materials like PET, BOPP, and PS are better for harder surfaces.
4. Incorrect Adhesive Selection:
• The choice of adhesive should align with the label’s purpose—whether it needs to be permanent or removable, and whether it will be applied to a specific type of surface. For instance, labels applied to highly curved surfaces (like round objects with a diameter less than 2 cm) should avoid thick or rigid paper materials and instead use flexible film materials with appropriate adhesives.

5. Poor Tension Control During Lamination:
• If the tension during the lamination process is not controlled properly, the label may curl after being removed from the release paper. This curling can lead to poor adhesion, causing the edges to lift.
6. Poor Design of the Bottle Shape:
• If the bottle’s surface in the labeling area is not flat but spherical or curved, the label may wrinkle at the edges, leading to peeling. Designing the bottle to have a flat surface in the labeling area can prevent this issue.
These are the six main reasons why adhesive labels might peel at the edges over time. Addressing these factors during the label selection and application process can help ensure a long-lasting and secure label adhesion.
